RDAS Charity

Naomi House and Jacks PlaceRDAS supports a nominated charity with a housing connection. So far the amount donated to charities is £100,000. The charity selected for 2009-2012 is Naomi House and Jack's Place.

Naomi House and Jacksplace, provides support to children and young people with life limiting conditions from across central southern England. Their health conditions mean that they will not reach adulthood. The charity offers care that includes planned and emergency respite stays, end of life and bereavement care. This support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The services the Trust provides are available to families from seven counties across the Central South. The two purpose built hospices, Naomi House and Jacksplace, are situated in Sutton Scotney, north of Winchester in Hampshire. While Naomi House creates a cosy, country cottage atmosphere, Jacksplace is designed to give the young people the independence, dignity and privacy they crave. It has a much more modern, spacious feel and is the only young adults hospice in the South. In addition the community service supports families, living within approximately an hour’s drive of the hospices, in their own homes who need our help during emergency situations.

It costs around £5 million a year to provide these services to the 300 children, young people and families. With less than 15% of income coming from Government and other statutory bodies, the Trust relies on the generosity of people in the community to continue its work. Their support enables the charity to provide these crucial care services, free of charge, to children, young adults and their families.
Please support RDAS in its fundraising to help make short lives special.

Naomi house

Naomi House PhotoSituated just north of Winchester in Hampshire, Naomi House offers one-to-one palliative care that includes respite, terminal and bereavement care and support to children and their families in central southern England. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and it costs around £2.5 million every year to keep this service running.

With just 10% of their income coming from government, Naomi House relies on the generosity of people in the community to continue its work. Their help and time allows the charity to provide these crucial care services, free of charge, to children and their families.

Medical advances mean that many children with life-limiting illnesses, who have grown up visiting Naomi House, are now living to become young adults. The environment at Naomi House is principally designed to suit children; the needs of young people are very different to theirs. Naomi House recognised this and consulted extensively with young people to design a facility that caters for their medical and social needs.

jacksplace@naomihouse

jacksplace@naomihouse is a new facility that includes six specially designed bedrooms with en-suite facilities that give the youngsters privacy and dignity. There are two bedrooms where families can stay and be close to their young person, and a butterfly suite for end-of-life care. Other facilities include a wheelchair accessible kitchen, social areas, a sports field and gardens.
