RDAS supports a nominated charity with a housing connection on an annual basis. That charity is currently Brick by Brick a small charity that genuinely put every penny they raise into helping the homeless. The charity has been chosen in order that the contribution by the RDAS can make a real difference.

In October 2004, they were granted planning permission for their fourth project, to build a block of flats consisting of 8 one bed flats, 3 two bed flats, one office, one laundry room and storage. The work is anticipated to be completed in the winter of 2005. The building costs are estimated at £1,250,000
For more information including plans and photographs of the developments both completed and proposed see www.brickbybrick.org.uk
In 1990, Alexander Gravenstein, holding the "Honorary Liberty of the Old Kent Road in Camberwell", established with nil assets the charity Brick by Brick LHAG which provides permanent accommodation for the homeless.

To raise funds, Alexander Gravenstein, Project Organiser of the Charity, wrote and published the book "The Wildlife of St. James's Park" and has stood with his collecting tins for 13 years and thousands of hours on Underground and British Rail Stations, forever telling millions of commuters "Homeless is not hopeless, with your help. We desperately need your help", in his distinctive voice.
The Charity also gives to homeless and unemployed people the opportunity to help build and renovate buildings, thereby learning a skill under the supervision of qualified tradesmen, in order to provide themselves and others with decent homes so that they can lead independent, self-sufficient lives.
The policy of the Charity is not political, religious or prejudiced.
We would like to emphasise that our collectors are not paid for their help.
